Concept en Inspiratie
De inspiratie voor “Fusion Elegance” komt voort uit de culturele uitwisseling in Andalusië, waar Arabieren, Joden, Christenen, moslims, Noord-Afrikanen en Gitanos samenleefden en elkaars muziek beïnvloedden. Na de christelijke “reconquista” veranderde deze diversiteit drastisch. Veel mensen werden verdreven of gemarginaliseerd en trokken zich terug buiten de steden, waar ze hun verdriet en dromen verwerkten in muziek. Deze gemeenschappelijke wortels vormden de basis voor wat we nu kennen als flamenco.

Antonio Lizana herkende in de muziek van Ömer Faruk Tekbilek de oude wortels van Oosterse invloeden die ook in flamenco aanwezig zijn. Daarnaast voelde hij zich sterk aangesproken door Tekbilek’s moderne benadering, waarin traditionele melodieën op eigentijdse wijze worden gecombineerd. Deze visie inspireerde Lizana en het Marmoucha Orchestra in hun zoektocht naar een nieuwe samensmelting van flamenco en Oosterse muziekstijlen.
