Aleksandra Kaspera

Aleksandra Kaspera werd geboren in 1984 in Riga, Letland, in een muzikale familie. Ze begon op vierjarige leeftijd met piano spelen en werd al snel geaccepteerd om piano te studeren aan het junior conservatorium voor jonge talenten aan de Emila Darzina muziekschool. Op tienjarige leeftijd maakte ze de overstap naar de cello. Ze nam deel aan de “Talents of Latvia” competitie en won de derde prijs. Aleksandra studeerde in 2008 af met een bachelor in cello performance aan de Jazeps Vitols Latvian Music Academy. Tijdens haar studie speelde ze soloconcerten met het academie symfonieorkest, nam deel aan competities en masterclasses en speelde in jeugdorkesten in Denemarken, Litouwen, Zweden en andere landen.

Vanaf 2007 studeerde ze als onderdeel van het Socrates Erasmus uitwisselingsprogramma in Nederland bij Professoren Jeroen Reuling, Rene Berman, Tineke Steenbrink en Egbert Spelde. In 2009 won ze de tweede prijs in de NOVAM National Accordion Chamber Music Competition met accordeonist Jevgenijs Pastuhovs. Dat jaar werd ze ook aangesteld als eerste cellist van het ArtEZ Baroque Project en ontving ze een Jacob Weiss cello in bruikleen van het Nationaal Instrumentenfonds. Tijdens haar studie nam ze deel aan masterclasses van bekende musici zoals Maria Kliegel, Gary Hoffman en Gavriel Lipkind. Na het behalen van haar masterdiploma in 2012 aan de ArtEZ Hogeschool voor de Kunsten werkt ze nu als freelance cellist in Nederland.

Sinds 2015 is Aleksandra eerste cellist van The String Soloists kamerorkest van de Nederlandse violiste Lisa Jacobs. The String Soloists hebben opgetreden op televisie, radio en in belangrijke zalen in Nederland en hebben ook getoerd in Duitsland, Italië en Portugal.

Aleksandra Kaspera born into a musical family in 1984 in Riga, Latvia. She began playing the piano at the age of four, and shortly she was accepted to study piano in the junior music conservatory for young talents in piano class in Emila Darzina music school.

At the age of ten she made a transition to violoncello. She took part at the “Talents of Latvia” competition and received 3rd price. Aleksandra graduated in 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in cello performance from Professor Mariss Villesruss class at the Jazeps Vitols Latvian Music Academy. During her studies she performed numerous solo concertos with the Academy Symphony orchestra, participated in several competitions and master classes, participated in youth orchestras in Denmark, Lithuania, and Sweden, among other countries. Until the graduation she was a member of the Latvian orchestras Sinfonia Concertante, conducted by Andris Vecumnieks, and Konsonanse, conducted by Andris Poga.

From 2007 as part of the Socrates Erasmus exchange program she has studied with Professors Jeroen Reuling, Rene Berman, Tineke Steenbrink and Egbert Spelde in the Netherlands. In 2009 she won 2nd prize with accordion player Jevgenijs Pastuhovs in the NOVAM National Accordion Chamber Music Competition. Same year she was appointed principal cellist of the ArtEZ Baroque Project, working with Judith and Tineke Steenbrink and the Holland Baroque Society. She also received a Jacob Weiss (Salzburg 1745) cello on loan from the National Instrument Fund and made a promotional DVD CASTUS, sponsored by ArtEZ. During her study years she has participated in master classes by many renowned musicians, including Maria Kliegel, Gary Hoffman, Gavriel Lipkind, Gordan Nikolitch, Justus Grimm, Claudio Jacomucci, Aurelia Saxophone Quartet, Stanislav Firlej, Marcio Corneiro, Diana Ozolina and others. While studying for her master’s degree Aleksandra followed an internship at the Arnhem Philharmonic Orchestra and Netherlands Symphony Orchestra, which gave her insights into working with a high- level professional orchestra. In 2012 she graduated Cum Laude her Master degree at ArtEZ Hogeschool voor de Kunsten (Jeroen Reuling cello class, Tineke Steenbrink and Rene Berman ensemble class) Since then she is working as a freelance cellist based in The Netherlands.

Among orchestra projects Aleksandra is performing solo and is a part of chamber music life in the Netherlands and abroad.

Sinds 2015 Aleksandra has been a principal cellist of The String Soloists chamber orchestra of the Dutch violinist Lisa Jacobs. The String Soloists performed on television, radio and in the most important halls in The Netherlands such as Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Paleis Het Loo, Tivoli Vredenburg, De Harmonie Leeuwarden, Stadsgehoorzaal Leiden, Muziekgebouw Eindhoven. Toured in Germany, Italy and Portugal.
