Ardashes Agoshian

Ardashes Agoshian is een contrabassist, vruchtbare componist, muzikaal directeur, dirigent en academicus gevestigd in Amsterdam. Hij heeft solo contrabas gespeeld zowel binnen- als buitenland op verschillende plaatsen, waarvan de meest opvallende locatie het Amsterdamse Concertgebouw is. Zijn contrabas is gemaakt in 1895 in het huidige Tsjechië door een van de beroemdste vioolbouwers in die tijd, Benjamin Patočka, als een solo instrument. Hij is opmerkelijk vanwege zijn composities en arrangementen die meer dan honderd nummers omvatten. Deze zijn uitgevoerd in Turkije, evenals in diverse landen variërend van Canada tot Engeland door dergelijke belangrijke namen als Prof. Cihat Askin en Steinway-kunstenaar Sahan Arzruni. Zijn concert voor solo contrabas en a capella koor genaamd “Romeo en Juliet,” de eerste in zijn soort, had zijn wereldpremière in 2011 tijdens een gezamenlijk concert van het CorISTAnbul Kamerkoor en het Ensemble Vocal uit Hamburg. Hij heeft ook deelgenomen aan CD-opnames voor Naxos en andere bedrijven. Agoshian heeft onlangs zijn masterdiploma in Oude Muziek (Violone) behaald bij Prof. Margaret Urquhart van het Conservatorium van Amsterdam. Hij heeft zijn B.A., master- en doctoraat behaald in contrabas aan het Staatsconservatorium van de Universiteit van Istanbul bij Prof. Tahir Sümer. Hij is ook een Composition and Orchestral Conducting Fellow van het London College of Music. Hij heeft ook compositie en dirigeren gestudeerd bij Selman Ada en Orhan Şallıel. Hij gaf les in contrabas en kamermuziek aan de IUSC en is dirigent van het jeugdkoor van het conservatorium. Hij is de oprichter-directeur van het CorISTAnbul Kamerkoor, een internationaal kamerkoor, en HayCappella, het eerste onafhankelijke Armeense kamerkoor in Istanbul. Hij gaf regelmatig concerten met zijn Barok-ensemble in verschillende kerken in Istanbul, CorISTAnbul Barok Orkest. Hij studeerde als Kapellmeister en Organist in de Duitse Protestantse Kerk, de Armeense Protestantse Kerk en de Armeense Orthodoxe Kerk. Hij heeft ook gestudeerd als gastdirigent bij vele projecten, opgevoerd door de Staatsopera en Ballet van Istanbul. Agoshian is momenteel professor aan de Fontys Acedemy of Music and Performing Art.

Ardashes Agoshian is a double bassist, prolific composer, music director, conductor and academics based in Amsterdam. He has played solo double bass both home and abroad in various places, most notable venue being Amsterdam Concertgebouw. His double bass made in 1895 in present-day Czech Republic by one the most famous luthiers in his time, Benjamin Patočka, as a solo instrument. He is notable for his compositions and arrangements numbering over a hundred. These have been performed in Turkey as well as in various countries ranging from Canada to England by such significant names as Prof. Cihat Askin and Steinway artist Sahan Arzruni. His concerto for double bass solo and a cappella choir named “Romeo ve Juliet,” the first of its kind, was world-premiered in 2011 in a joint concert by CorISTAnbul Chamber Choir and Ensemble Vocal from Hamburg. He has also participated in CD recordings for Naxos and other companies.Agoshian has recently completed his master’s degree in Early Music (Violone) with Prof. Margaret Urquhart from Conservatorium van Amsterdam. He has received his B.A., master’s and doctorate in Double Bass from Istanbul University State Conservatory with Prof. Tahir Sümer.He is also a Composition and Orchestral Conducting Fellow of the London College of Music. He also studied composition and conducting with Selman Ada and Orhan Şallıel. He taught double bass and chamber music at the IUSC and is the conductor of the youth choir of the conservatory. He is the founder-director of CorISTAnbul Chamber Choir, an international chamber choir, and HayCappella, the first independent Armenian chamber choir in Istanbul. He regularly gave concerts with his Baroque ensemble at various churches in Istanbul, CorISTAnbul Baroque Orchestra. He studied as Kappelmeister and Organist in German Protestant Church, Armenian Protestant Church and Armenian Orthodox Church. He has also studied as guest conductor at many projects, staged by the Istanbul State Opera and Ballet. Agoshian is currently a professor at Fontys Acedemy of Music and Performing art.
