Geboren en getogen in Turkije, werd Efe Erdem beïnvloed door muziek sinds hij zich kan herinneren. In 2000 begon hij zijn studie aan het Hacettepe conservatorium in Ankara, waar hij zijn vaardigheden bleef verbeteren met de hulp van A. Bedii Durham. Hij nam klassieke trombonelessen en was daarnaast zeer geïnteresseerd in verschillende genres zoals jazz, blues en latin muziek.
Op 15-jarige leeftijd had hij al gespeeld met veel orkesten en bands. Hij kreeg ook de kans om op te treden in concertzalen en theaters, met de nadruk op jazz en improvisatie. In 2008 spreidde hij zijn vleugels en emigreerde naar Rotterdam, Nederland, om zijn studie voort te zetten aan het Codarts Conservatorium als student van alumni Bart van Lier en Ilja Reingoud. Hij rondde zijn studie met succes af in 2012.
Tijdens zijn tijd in Rotterdam werd hij een veelgevraagde trombonespeler. Hij speelde met artiesten als Marcus Miller, Benny Golson, Tony Allen, leden van Snarky Puppy, Knower, Roy Hargrove, Bilal en Robert Glasper, om er maar een paar te noemen. Hij is ook lid van het Re:Freshed Orchestra, een 16-koppig orkest met een ritmesectie, blazerssectie en strijkerssectie. Ze traden op bij verschillende festivals zoals North Sea Jazz, Noorderslag en Right About Now festival.
De laatste tijd is hij druk bezig geweest met optredens en tours met bekende artiesten/bands zoals Anouk, Doe Maar, O’Jays, En Vogue, Livity, Benjamin Herman, de met de Edison Jazzism Award bekroonde artiest Karsu en organisaties zoals Ladies of Soul.
Efe heeft gereisd over de hele wereld om samen te spelen met veel muzikanten. Zijn trombone bracht hem naar verschillende plaatsen in Europa, maar ook buiten de Verenigde Staten, waaronder Zuid-Afrika, Mozambique, Kaapverdië en Indonesië.
Nu is de tijd gekomen dat Efe klaar is om naar de voorgrond te stappen en zijn passie en liefde te delen met het publiek. In 2016 bracht hij zijn debuut-EP ‘First Kiss’ uit om mensen te laten weten dat hij eraan komt. De EP geeft je een inkijkje in Efe Erdem dat verfrissend en innovatief is. Op dit moment is hij bezig met het opnemen van zijn aankomende album, dat begin 2021 zal worden uitgebracht. Je kunt niet wachten om meer klanken uit zijn trombone te horen.
Born and raised in Turkey, Efe Erdem was influenced by music ever since he can remember. In 2000, he started his studies at the Hacettepe conservatory in Ankara, continuing to perfect his craft with the help of A. Bedii Durham. He took classical trombone lessons and was very interested in various genres like jazz, blues, and Latin music.
At the age of 15, he had already played with many orchestras and bands. He also gained experience performing in concert halls and theaters, with a focus on jazz and improvisation. In 2008, he spread his wings and emigrated to Rotterdam, the Netherlands, to continue his studies at Codarts Conservatory as a student of alumni Bart van Lier and Ilja Reingoud. He successfully finished his studies in 2012.
During his time in Rotterdam, he became a sought-after trombone player. He has played with the likes of Marcus Miller, Benny Golson, Tony Allen, Snarky Puppy members, Knower, Roy Hargrove, Bilal, and Robert Glasper, to name a few. He is a member of the Re:Freshed Orchestra, a 16-man orchestra combined with a rhythm section, horn section, and string section. They performed at various festivals like North Sea Jazz, Noorderslag, and the Right About Now festival, to give you an idea.
Lately, he has been busy playing and touring with famous artists and bands such as Anouk, Doe Maar, O’Jays, En Vogue, Livity, Benjamin Herman, Edison Jazzism award-winning artist Karsu, and organizations such as Ladies of Soul.
Efe has traveled all over the world to play with many musicians. His trombone took him to various places in Europe, as well as outside the USA. South Africa, Mozambique, Cape Verde, and Indonesia are a few of these places.
Now the time has come for Efe to step onto the front stage and share his passion and love with the audience. He released his debut EP ‘First Kiss’ in 2016 to give people a heads up that he is coming. The EP will show you an inside of Efe Erdem that is refreshing and innovative. Right now, he is busy recording his upcoming album, which will be released in the beginning of 2021. You can’t help but long for more sounds coming out of his trombone.
