Karim el Guennoui volgde een 3-jarige opleiding bij het theatergezelschap DNA. In een samenwerkingsproject met de Toneelschool Amsterdam studeert hij af in ‘Fool for Love’ van Sam Shepard, geregisseerd door Bart Kiene. 

Karim werkt bij verschillende gezelschappen en debuteert op TV met de hoofdrol in de tv film ‘De Wraak Engel’. Samen met Kees Prins en drie collega’s schrijft hij aan het satire programma Harirah in opdracht van de VPRO, waarin hij ook speelt.

Het succes van het toneelstuk ‘De Varkensfabriek’, dat Karim samen maakte met collega acteur Mohammed Azaay en regisseur Leopold Witte, resulteert in de start van zijn eigen productiekern onder dezelfde naam. Meerdere voorstellingen volgen, waaronder zijn eerste solovoorstelling ‘Jan Janszoon de Blonde Arabier’.

Sinds 2016 werkt Karim samen met Stichting Marmoucha, waarvoor hij verschillende voorstellingen schrijft, regisseert en in speelt.

Daarnaast schrijft Karim ook meerdere solo voorstellingen voor verscheidene acteurs en stand up comedians, waarvoor hij ook de regie op zich neemt. En sinds 2017 geeft hij les bij verschillende acteer opleidingen, waaronder bij TV College in Hilversum en het Media College in Amsterdam.


Karim el Guennoui followed a 3-year education programme at the DNA Theatre Company. In collaboration with the Amsterdam Academy of Theatre and Dance, he graduated in Sam Shepard’s Fool for Love, directed by Bart Kiene. 

Presently, Karim works with several theatre companies and had his television debut as the lead in the Dutch movie Angel of Revenge. He is one of 5 writers for satirical tv programme Harirah, in which he also performs. 

The success of the play ‘De Varkensfabriek’ (The Pig Factory), which Karim made with fellow actor Mohammed Azaay and director Leopold Witte, resulted in the foundation of his own production company of the same name. It has developed a number of shows, including his 1st solo performance ‘Jan Janszoon, de blonde Arabier’ (John Johnson, the blonde Arab).

Karim has been working with the Marmoucha Foundation since 2016, for which he writes, directs and several in different plays. He also works as a writer of solo performances for several actors and stand-up comedians, which he also directs. And since 2017, he has been teaching at a number of Dutch acting schools, such as TV College in Hilversum and the Media College in Amsterdam.
