“Under the Olive Tree”: Grenzeloze Muzikale Verbindingen

Het project “Under the Olive Tree”, een initiatief van het Marmoucha Orchestra met Medigrεcian Productions, brengt een veelzijdig ensemble van muzikanten samen op één podium. Deze kunstenaars, afkomstig uit verschillende Mediterrane culturen, delen hun passie voor muziek en bezingen thema’s als leven, liefde, vreugde en verdriet. Uitstrekkend van Noord-Afrika tot Spanje, van Griekenland tot de Levant, beoogt het project een culturele synthese die weerklank vindt in duizenden jaren erfgoed.

Medigrεcian Productions, gevestigd in Zwitserland en Griekenland, draagt hun specialistische kennis bij aan deze samenwerking. Onder leiding van de qanun-virtuoos Alkis Zopoglou, omvat hun portfolio geprezen projecten zoals “Rebetiko Meets Fado” en “Café Aman Rebetiko”. We waarderen de waardevolle bijdrage van Medigrεcian Productions aan deze muzikale reis.

Sinds 2002 is het in Amsterdam gevestigde Marmoucha Orchestra een sleutelfiguur in het initiëren en koesteren van de podiumkunsten uit de MENA-regio. Met producties zoals “Sahara Koyo” en “Children of Al Andalus” hebben ze een reputatie opgebouwd voor het creëren van boeiende culturele ervaringen en meeslepende culturele ontmoetingen. Samen met Medigrεcian Productions kijken we uit naar de première van “Under the Olive Tree” in Genève en Zürich in september 2023.

Een aanvullend aspect van dit project is de opname van de documentaire “The Golden Harvest”, vervaardigd door scenarioschrijver Alia Yunis. De film volgt haar persoonlijke reis vanuit Palestina door het Middellandse Zeegebied en verdiept zich in de aloude culturele impact van de olijfboom.

“Under the Olive Tree” streeft naar een verfijnde versmelting van melodieën en ritmes, die resoneert met diepgewortelde culturele inzichten en het feestelijke delen van ons gedeelde culturele erfgoed. Wij nodigen u van harte uit om deel te nemen aan deze unieke muzikale ervaring.

The “Under the Olive Tree” project, an initiative by the Marmoucha Orchestra with Medigrεcian Productions, gathers a versatile ensemble of musicians on a single stage. These artists, coming from various Mediterranean cultures, share their passion for music and vocalize themes such as life, love, joy, and sorrow. Stretching from North Africa to Spain, from Greece to the Levant, the project seeks a cultural synthesis that echoes through thousands of years of heritage.

Medigrεcian Productions, based in Switzerland and Greece, contributes their specialized knowledge to this collaboration. Under the direction of qanun virtuoso Alkis Zopoglou, their portfolio includes celebrated projects like “Rebetiko Meets Fado” and “Café Aman Rebetiko”. We appreciate the valuable contribution of Medigrεcian Productions to this musical journey.
