Altvioliste Irma Haverkamp studeerde aan de conservatoria te Zwolle, Utrecht, Rotterdam en New York, bij Michael Dobrowolski, Nobuko Imai, Vladimir Mendelssohn en Karen Ritscher. Zij nam deel aan verschillende muziekfestivals zoals Tanglewood (U.S.A.) en de masterclass voor strijkkwartetten op het Orlando Festival. In 1988 maakte zij deel uit van het E.C.B.O.( European Community Baroque Orchestra) waarmee zij een tournee door Europa maakte. Vele jaren remplaceerde zij in de verschillende Radio-Orkesten, het Brabants Orkest, het Balletorkest en het Gelders Orkest maar legt zich nu vooral toe op het uitvoeren en vaak ook opnemen van kamermuziek, zowel modern (Het Basho Ensemble, Hobokwartet ¾ Plus), romantisch en klassiek, (Het Nieuwe Leliekwartet en het Klop strijkkwartet) als barok (Holland Bach Orchestra, Musica Ad Rhenum, The Northern Consort en La Sorpresa). Zij is aanvoerster van de altviolen van het Promenade Orkest, het Nederlands Begeleidings Orkest, en het NASKA. Vanaf 2020 maakt ze ook deel uit van het strijkkwartet van Marmoucha.
Violist Irma Haverkamp studied at the conservatories in Zwolle, Utrecht, Rotterdam, and New York, under the guidance of Michael Dobrowolski, Nobuko Imai, Vladimir Mendelssohn, and Karen Ritscher. She participated in various music festivals such as Tanglewood (USA) and the string quartet masterclass at the Orlando Festival. In 1988, she was a member of the European Community Baroque Orchestra (ECBO) with which she toured Europe. For many years, she substituted in various radio orchestras, including the Brabants Orkest, the Ballet Orchestra, and the Gelders Orkest, but now she primarily focuses on performing and often recording chamber music, including modern repertoire (with the Basho Ensemble, Hobokwartet ¾ Plus), romantic and classical works (with Het Nieuwe Leliekwartet and the Klop string quartet), as well as Baroque music (with the Holland Bach Orchestra, Musica Ad Rhenum, The Northern Consort, and La Sorpresa). She is the principal violist of the Promenade Orchestra, the Dutch Accompaniment Orchestra, and the NASKA. Since 2020, she has also been a member of the Marmoucha string quartet.
