Na de release van Wahj begin 2026 (dat werd uitgeroepen tot Global Album of the Month door The Guardian) brengt de in Beiroet geboren en in Amsterdam gevestigde componist, producer en zanger Toni Geitani het album naar OT301 voor een meeslepende live performance.

Marmoucha Orchestra’s Toni Geitani (1992, Beiroet) is een veelzijdige, in Amsterdam gevestigde muziekproducer, sound designer, componist, zanger en filmmaker. Na het afronden van zijn bachelor in Filmmaking regisseerde hij zijn debuutfilm The Leaves Will Bury (2015). Zijn film The Disappearance of Goya (2018), ondersteund door de Ashkal Alwan Video Works-beurs, werd vertoond op internationale filmfestivals en bekroond met de prijs voor Beste Internationale korte of middellange film op het RIDM.

Vervolgens behaalde hij een Master of Music in Live Electronics aan het Conservatorium van Amsterdam. Zijn scriptie, Sampling as a Political Medium (2023), onderzoekt de relatie tussen elektronische muziek en sociaal-politieke vraagstukken, met bijzondere aandacht voor culturele toe-eigening en machtsstructuren binnen geluidspraktijken.

Als muzikaal projectleider bracht hij onder meer de spraakmakende voorstelling The Phonograph Changed Me (2025) naar het podium en als muzikant produceerde hij de albums Al Roujoou Ilal Qamar (2018) en Wahj (2026). Toni werkt regelmatig samen en combineert performance, sound design en bewegend beeld. Daarbij maakt hij gebruik van onder andere synthesizers, tapemachines en softwareomgevingen zoals Max for Live, Arduino en TouchDesigner.

Wahj

After the release of Wahj in early 2026 (which was named Global Album of the Month by The Guardian), Beirut-born and Amsterdam-based composer, producer and singer Toni Geitani brings the album to OT301 for an immersive live performance.

Marmoucha Orchestra’s Toni Geitani (1992, Beirut) is a versatile, Amsterdam-based music producer, sound designer, composer, singer, and filmmaker. After completing his Bachelor’s degree in Filmmaking, he directed his debut film The Leaves Will Bury (2015). His film The Disappearance of Goya (2018), supported by the Ashkal Alwan Video Works grant, was presented at international film festivals and received the award for Best International Short or Medium-Length Film at RIDM.

He later completed a Master of Music in Live Electronics at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. His thesis, Sampling as a Political Medium (2023), examines the relationship between electronic music and socio-political issues, with particular attention to cultural appropriation and power structures within sound practices.

As a musical project leader, he brought, among others, the acclaimed performance The Phonograph Changed Me (2025) to the stage, and as a musician he produced the albums Al Roujoou Ilal Qamar (2018) and Wahj (2026). Toni regularly collaborates and combines performance, sound design, and moving image. In doing so, he uses tools such as synthesizers, tape machines, and software environments including Max for Live, Arduino, and TouchDesigner.
