Udo Demandt is geboren en opgegroeid in Duitsland, en begon al op 8 jarige leeftijd met drummen. Bij Codarts Rotterdam is hij in 2000 afgestudeerd op Latin percussie en drums. Daarna verdiepte hij zich verder in de Flamenco, onder meer bij het Metropole Orkest voor het ‘El Viento’-project. In 2009-2010 ontving hij een stipendium van het FVPK voor een halfjarige studie in Brazilië op drums en pandeiro. Zijn volgende ontdekking was de mediterraanse en orientaalse percussie, hij volgde cursussen voor riq, framedrums, darbuka en tamburello.
Udo is een veelgevraagde percussionist en drummer voor een aantal groepen en zangers, zoals Magda Mendes, Lilian Vieira Grupo, Fernando Lameirinhas, Primos del Norte Flamencotrio, danseres Irene Alvarez, Windstreken Ensemble, Roda da Holanda, Luzazul en het Marmoucha Collectief.
Hij geeft daarnaast sinds 10 jaar les in Flamenco-Cajón en Braziliaanse Drums bij Codarts Rotterdam.
Udo Demandt was born and raised in Germany, where he started playing the drums aged 8. He completed his college education at Codarts Rotterdam, where he graduated in Latin percussion and drums in 2000.
Afterwards, he further studied flamenco, for instance in the Metropole Orkest’s El Viento Project. In 2009-2010, he received an FVPK stipendium which allowed him to study drums and pandeiro in Brazil for 6 months. His next discovery was Mediterranean and oriental percussion. He subsequently studied riq, frame drums, darbuka and tamburello.
Udo is in demand as a percussionist and drummer for a number of groups and singers, like Magda Mendes, the Lilian Vieira Grupo, Fernando Lameirinhas, flamenco trio Primos del Norte, dancer Irene Alvarez, the Windstreken Ensemble, Roda da Holanda, Luzazul and the Marmoucha Orchestra.
For the last 10 years, he has been a teacher of Flamenco-Cajón and Brazilian drums at Codarts Rotterdam.
